Buckingham Palace has made delightful announcement as King Charles III’s niece Princess Beatrice welcomed new daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi.
The royal family celebrated the news by sharing the first picture of the new royal baby girl on their official Instagram account.
The Palace announced: “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, born on Wednesday, 22nd January, at 12:57pm.”
The King’s office also shared details about the weight: “The baby was born weighing 4 pounds and 5 ounces.
The statement continued: “The King and Queen, and other members of The Royal Family have all been informed and are delighted with the news.”
It added: “Princess Beatrice and Mr Mapelli Mozzi would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care.
Her Royal Highness and her daughter are healthy and doing well, and the family are enjoying spending time together with Athena’s older siblings, Wolfie and Sienna.”
The Princess of York was due to give birth in early spring and was warned by doctors in December not to travel long distances.
Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s daughter Beatrice has given a sweet nod to Queen Elizabeth by naming her new baby after the late monarch.
Edoardo also shared the delightful news on his Instagram, saying: “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, born on Wednesday, 22nd January.”
