What are the best Dragon Ball Sparking Zero mods? There isn’t a game in the world that can’t be improved with user created mods, and Dragon Ball Sparking Zero is no exception. While the PC version of the game may have its flaws, it more than makes up for this with its modding potential.
Dragon Ball Sparking Zero mods lift the technical limitations that come with the console versions of the fighting game by unlocking the framerate and giving you additional stages on the map selection screen. The best mods even add new costumes to part of the Sparking Zero roster, with some deep cuts that hardcore fans will appreciate.
The best mods for Dragon Ball Sparking Zero are:
Black Frieza
Dragon Ball Super manga fans, rejoice. While Sparking Zero has included practically every character in the series, it has intentionally excluded some of the newer fighters from the manga, most notably Black Frieza. Now we won’t spoil anything for those who aren’t aware of Frieza’s special form, but for those who do know, you will want to download Seven’s Black Frieza mod right away. This doesn’t add any new moves to the character, it is purely a skin, but you must admit, it’s pretty darn cool.
Performance Enhancer
If you own a high refresh rate monitor and a computer capable of pushing more frames, you’ll want to get your hands on the Performance Enhancer mod right away. In addition to removing the 60fps cap, you can also disable bloom and chromatic aberration, two graphics options that subjectively make the game look worse and will cost you some frames to enable. There used to be problems with this mod where you couldn’t play online, but that issue has since been fixed.
Unlock FPS
If you’re looking for a lightweight alternative to Performance Enhancer, the Unlock FPS mod is your best bet. This Sparking Zero mod doesn’t come with all the bells and whistles above, but it does exactly what it sets out to do with minimal fuss and no slowdown.
Save Game Everything Unlocked
While you could just follow the steps in our Sparking Zero unlock characters guide, the Save Game 100% mod instantly unlocks every item in the game. This also maxes out the proficiency for each character, leaving every stone unturned. Sure, this will get you into the action right away as you won’t need to go through the story mode or any of the Sparking Episodes, but where’s the fun in that?
All Characters HP x2
If you want the classic Dragon Ball Z experience of long and arduous fights, then this is the mod for you. True to its name, the All Characters HP x2 mod doubles or triples the health of all fighters, elevating each battle from a skirmish to a combat trial worthy of legendary heroes.
Let’s Fight Somewhere Else
The technical limitations mentioned earlier in the guide were referring to the local multiplayer mode, specifically the selection of maps on offer. In the base game, the only playable level in local multiplayer is the Hyperbolic Time Chamber as it features the least amount of destructible objects. With the Let’s Fight Somewhere Else mod, you’re now able to pick the level you play on, even areas that aren’t available in online multiplayer.
Aspect Ratio Fix
An essential mod for users with different aspect ratios, the Ultrawide mod lets you adjust Sparking Zero to fit your monitor perfectly. The best part is that this mod works with any aspect ratio, so you can fix your game, regardless of what type of display you’re using.
Pinnacle of Power
Take a real close look at Ultra Instinct Goku and Full Power Jiren. They have a special aura that covers them during battle, an aura so special that it’s only reserved for these two characters. We don’t think this is very fair, and neither does the Pinnacle of Power mod which gives other characters access to this special effect. This mod provides characters that were at the peak of their powers during specific eras the aura, for example, Super Saiyan 3 Goku at the end of Dragoin Ball Z now has this special aura.
Faulconer OST
There have been many cuts of Dragon Ball Z, from the Funimation run to the Ocean dub, but you might only recognize the differences between the versions based on the music. Dragon Ball Z fans of a certain era will know all about the legendary Bruce Faulconer soundtrack, featuring iconic ‘90s tracks that utilize synths and heavy metal guitars. There are lots of great songs in Sparking Zero, but the Faulconer OST mod will hit you with a wave of nostalgia.
Gohan Bojack Costume
The developers of Sparking Zero did a fantastic job of trying to make every fan happy with the sheer number of costumes on offer, though are a few fan favorites that inevitably didn’t make the cut. Gohan’s Gi from the Bojack movie was one of them, and now with the Gohan Bojack Costume mod, you can gain access to this awesome outfit.
Character Selection Screen Revamped
This might not be the most impactful mod on this list, but given how much you’ll be looking at the character selection screen in Sparking Zero, we still rank it among the best. The Character Selection Screen Revamped mod replaces the basic low-res character portraits with official artwork. It might be a small change, but it resolves one of the biggest complaints in the Sparking Zero community.
Vegito (SSG)
There are 182 characters in Sparking Zero, and yet, the sheer volume of transformations mean that there are still a few omissions on the roster. One is the Super Saiyan God transformation for Vegito. This powerful variation doesn’t make an appearance in canon, but what is Budokai Tenkaichi for if not exploring new possibilities? We’ll take our red-headed Vegito with pleasure.
How to install Sparking Zero mods
Most of the mods on this list can be installed by placing the .pak files into the Sparking Zero directory. Installing mods is fairly straightforward, though you will have to disable signature checking to run custom files.
Here’s what you need to do to activate the Signature Bypass Patch for Sparking Zero:
- Download the Signature Bypass Patch from Nexus Mods
- Locate your Sparking Zero folder, head to the ‘Binaries’ folder, then open the ‘Win64’ folder.
- Extract the contents of the file you just downloaded into this folder.
