When is the Diablo 4 Season 7 release date? A much-loved feature from Diablo 3 returns in D4 with the (re)introduction of seasons, adding everything from new questlines to items, gameplay mechanics, and more. Expanding on the rich, gothic world of Sanctuary, Blizzard makes sure players have plenty to sink their teeth into, whether you’re a fresh-faced player taking their first steps into Sanctuary or a grizzled veteran of the Burning Hells.
We’re currently at Season 6, with a promise of four seasons a year. Given that there is at least one more DLC planned for Blizzard’s action RPG game, we can assume there are also more seasons to come. While it’s still too early for the confirmed date of Diablo 4 Season 7, we can estimate a release date based on preceding seasonal content.
Diablo 4 Season 7 release date estimate
The Diablo 4 Season 7 release date is expected to arrive on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, based on the previous season dates arriving on Tuesdays approximately every three months. The current Diablo 4 battle pass is set to end on January 21, 2025, heavily suggesting the next season will begin shortly after.
The first Diablo 4 season was released on a Wednesday, but almost every other since has followed the three-month Tuesday release date pattern. With Season 6, the Season of Hatred Rising, being released on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, we can estimate a Season 7 release date in early January 2025. That said, Season 6 was slightly early as it arrived alongside the Vessel of Hatred DLC.
The last few Diablo 4 seasons have made significant changes to vanilla mechanics including loot and leveling, and have resulted in an increased demand for the game. This makes future seasonal content incredibly exciting as we know Blizzard is listening to player feedback.
Diablo 4 Season 7 changes
Four big additions are coming to Diablo 4 Season 7:
- Witchcraft powers
- Occult Gems
- Headhunts
- The Armory
Season of Witchcraft is taking its cue from the Season of Blood, granting us powerful new Witchcraft abilities split into three schools. There are seven Eldritch powers, seven Growth and Decay powers, and six Psyche powers. There are also four Lost powers for you to discover.
Next, we have Occult Gems, the seasonal socketables that will amp up the potency of your witchy abilities. These can be earned by bringing the heads of the new Headrotten to the Tree of Whispers, or through crafting.
Headhunts will lead you to targets that drop the materials required to craft Occult Gems. These can be active in multiple areas throughout Sanctuary simultaneously, and move over time.
Finally, we have the long-awaited Armory, which is bringing gear loadouts to Diablo 4. Saving a loadout will log equipped items, Paragon Board and Glyphs, skill selections, and your class mechanic. Each character will have a maximum of five loadout slots.
There are also new Runes, Legendary aspects, and more coming to Diablo 4 Season of Witchcraft that you can read about here.
Diablo 4 seasons explained
Diablo 4 seasons last roughly three months, with four seasons a year. You must have completed the campaign before you can experience any of the new seasonal stories. You can, however, complete the campaign in the seasonal realm if you are new to D4, and your usual slaying of beasts and clearing of dungeons will add to your Diablo 4 Battle Pass progress.
If you aren’t new to the game and have already started your adventure in Sanctuary, you’ll need new seasonal characters; each one is a fresh start from level one, which gets you to level up, experience the seasonal content, and get great loot – don’t forget that the skip campaign option becomes available once you have completed it once. Once the season ends, you won’t lose your character, as every seasonal character is transferred to the Eternal Realm to allow players to keep slaying and looting to their heart’s content.
Previous Diablo 4 Seasons
Here are all the previous Diablo 4 seasons and what they introduced:
- Season 1 – Season of the Malignant: This added a new short story campaign where players sought out Varshan the Consumed and dealt with the blight by interacting with Malignant Hearts.
- Season 2 – Season of the Blood: This season saw players obtain up to 22 vampiric powers, which were transferred to the base game as aspects. It also introduced several endgame bosses and the Blood Harvest event.
- Season 3 – Season of the Construct: Players were able to use Seneschal, a robot companion who they can upgrade with abilities and traits. It also included a new dungeon type called Vaults, as well as the first appearance of leaderboards and always active Helltides.
- Season 4 – Season of Loot Reborn: This season had a campaign where members of the Iron Wolves were disappearing under suspicious circumstances. Players must also fight back against the Helltide to earn standing with the Iron Wolves. Several big changes were made to both Seasonal and Eternal realms for how items are earned, and how loot in general works.
- Season 5 – Season of the Infernal Hordes: This season added a new Infernal Hordes mode which you can complete solo or with friends. The aim is to defeat waves of enemies within a time limit and advance through the Well of Hatred, spending Burning Aether between waves on spoils to help you advance.
- Season 6 – Season of Hatred: The main change in Season 6 was a huge overhaul to leveling which saw the previous maximum level of 100 reduced to 60, and another ten then added, so any players that had hit level 100 had more work to do on existing characters. New characters can now hit a cap of 70, which we could see extended again in the future.
