‘Snow White’ star Rachel Zegler’s shocking reversal: ‘I’m honoured to play this role’

Rachel Zegler has changed her tune about the original 1937 film.

After previously calling it “weird” and “sexist,” Zegler now says she’s “honoured” to play the iconic princess in Disney’s live-action remake of Snow White.

On Good Morning America, the 23-year-old star gushed about getting cast by Disney in 2021, saying, “It was the honor of a lifetime. I think every young person dreams about a phone call like that.”

She also claimed to be a “huge Disney fan” despite her past criticisms, adding, “This one is certainly extra special… To get to bring her to life in such a unique way and such a special way, it’s just a beautiful opportunity, and I’m very honored.”

The actress’s remarks come amid negative reviews for the $270 million reboot, which has been criticized for its “woke” twist. The film’s press tour has also been scaled back, fueling rumors of a feud between Zegler and co-star Gal Gadot.

In the interview, Zegler discussed the film’s modern take, saying, “It’s all about bridging a classic to a modern age to bring it to these beautiful young people… [Snow White’s] superpower remains her heart, you know, that’s always been the core of this story.”

She had previously criticised the original Snow White film, calling it “extremely dated” and saying, “There’s a big focus on her love story with a guy who literally stalks her. Weird.”

She also refused to sing the iconic song Some Day My Prince Will Come, saying, “We didn’t do that this time. I was scared of the original version.”

The rumored feud between Zegler and Gadot has also made headlines, with sources claiming they have “nothing in common” due to their age gap and differing political views.
