When is Minecraft Live 2025? Minecraft Live is now a twice-annual livestream event hosted by members of the Mojang team to inform the community about the latest goings on, development updates, and more. The event used to take lace once a year, and was always a huge date among the Minecraft community, so we can’t wait to experience the hype twice yearly.
Until 2024, usually around the Summer, a huge, single, epic update has come to everyone’s favorite sandbox game, and undeniably one of the best PC games of all time, Minecraft. In recent years, that update has been announced during Minecraft Live. Now, the landscape of Minecraft updates is changing forever with multiple ‘Drops’ spread throughout the year, announced during two annual Minecraft Live broadcasts. So, here’s what we know about how that impacts the Minecraft calendar when we might expect to see Minecraft Live in 2025.
Minecraft Live 2025
The first Minecraft Live 2025 took place on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 10am PST / 1pm EST / 5pm GMT. During the event, the 1.25.5 update release date was announced.
For the last few years, the annual Minecraft Live took place in or around October, with Minecraft Live 2024 broadcasting on September 28. With this in mind, we expect the second Minecraft Live 2025 to take place around this time again.
Minecraft 1.25.5 is on the way and features a bunch of new and exciting new items for the building game. With more Minecraft game drops coming each year, however, we know more about the following update, too.
Minecraft Live announcements
Vibrant Visuals
Back in 2017, new Minecraft Super Duper Graphics were revealed, and were supposed to change the way Minecraft looked thanks to RTX. However, the update never came as intended. A Super Duper Graphics pack was released, as well as an RTX update, but a huge visuals overhaul is now finally coming to the vanilla game.
Vibrant Visuals is basically like having a Minecraft shader pack installed, only it’s how vanilla Minecraft is going to look from the update onwards. It’s set to be suitable for all platforms and setups, but is only available in Bedrock mode, but it should run perfectly well, no matter what PC, laptop, or console you play on. Mojang is also looking to introduce Vibrant Visuals on Java edition too, but at least you have shaders on there for now.

Next game drop
Happy Ghasts
If you’re terrified of Ghasts and hate to see (or hear) them whenever you enter the Nether, prepare to have your opinon changed. In Nether Soul Sand Valleys, you will soon be able to find new Dried Ghasts. These tiny little mobs look like mob heads, but are actually mobs. The poor dehydrated mobs look incredibly deflated and are desperate for some water, but, sadly for them, they’re in the worst place for it.
To rehydrate these adorable creatures, you can carry them to the overworld and place them in water, where they’ll eventually cheer up and grow into Ghastlings. These critters imprint onto players and other mobs, following them around in the most endearing fashion.
From here, these cute blocks will eventually become Happy Ghasts. In perhaps the best news ever to come to Minecraft, you can saddle up a Happy Ghast and fly through the overworld on its back. Up to four players can take a peaceful ride on a Happy Ghast, getting the best view of your world without having to worry about your Elytra wings breaking.
Locator bar
The only other feature from the next Minecraft update announced so far is the locator bar. If you play with friends on a Minecraft server, you’ll appreciate this bar which can help direct you nearby pals. Particularly helpful when you want to pick them up on your new Ghast pet.

How to watch Minecraft Live
Minecraft Live is streamed on Youtube, Twitch, and the official Minecraft website. If you miss it, you can always catch up on the full stream or the highlights after the event.
In previous years, the show has started with a ‘pre-show’ feature, during which well-known Minecraft content creators recap their year in the game, and we expect to see another pre-show take place this time around.
From there, new updates on all of Mojang’s projects are revealed. Historically, this has included a Minecraft mob vote, on which we discuss more below, but Mojang has confirmed the mob vote will no longer take place. Catch up on all previous events or get ready for the next one on the Minecraft YouTube channel, Minecraft Twitch channel, or minecraft.net.
Minecraft Live mob vote
The Minecraft mob vote is not happening in future Minecraft Live shows, with the 2023 vote – won by the Minecraft Armadillo – being the last.
The Minecraft mob vote has been a bone of contention for the last few years. In 2020, the Minecraft glow squid won the vote, but many thought this decision was unfair since Dream – who had a huge following at the time – asked his fans to vote for the squid. Many thought this swayed the voting in his favor and was thus rigged.
Since then, many have complained about the Minecraft Live mob vote, despite it being arguably the most popular part of the show. Another reason many players have fought against the vote, including signing a mob vote petition in 2023, is because they feel one new mob a year isn’t enough, and there is no reason all three new mobs couldn’t be added – or more.
Whatever the reason, whether it’s one of these or something we aren’t privy to, the Minecraft Live mob vote is no more.
So that’s everything we know about Minecraft Live 2025 and beyond. When more is announced for the building game broadcast, we’ll add it here. In the meantime, get used to some of the newest blocks in the game with some of our favorite Minecraft house ideas, and try out the newest biomes in the best Minecraft seeds, including The Pale Garden, Cherry Groves, and more.
