Phala, a Polkadot-based parachain and computation platform launches the first OP Succinct Layer 2 on the Ethereum network, in collaboration with rollup infrastructure providers Succinct Labs and Conduit—this new development ushers cryptographic computation solutions to Ethereum.
Phala Network, combines two technologies, Optimistic Rollup and Zero-Knowledge Proofs, leveraging the SP1 zkVM built by Succinct Labs to deliver cryptographic proof systems and fast-finality that scales the Ethereum network. Also, partnering with rollup service provider, Conduit to deploy the Layer 2.

The Phala team stated that the decision to build on Ethereum was due to a strong product-market fit, which allowed Phala to offer its TEE services to the existing infrastructure on the mainnet.

Phala is known for its hybrid computation services including Trusted Execution Environment (TEE), Multi-Party Computation (MPC) and AI infrastructure, which allows Ethereum and AI developers (in Web2) leverage on Phala Network to deploy privacy-centric Ethereum dApps.

Phala embeds the dStack SDK to build its ‘Phala Cloud’ — a secure platform for deploying and managing AI-ready applications — This integration gives developers instant access to TEE resources, including Intel TDX, AMD SEV, and NVIDIA H100/H200.
Phala Cloud also supports the ai16z agentic framework to build AI agents like Eliza based on Phala’s TEE network.

Phala stands out among the various Layer 2s and Rollups that have appeared on Ethereum. While Phala is a parachain within the Polkadot ecosystem, it has expanded its offering to include a scalable AI computation infrastructure for the EVM.
