Rachel Zegler knows how to stay in the headlines.
The Snow White star recently made waves when she walked back her previous comments about the original 1937 animated classic, which she once labelled “weird.”
Now, the actress is singing a different tune, praising her role as the iconic princess in the upcoming live-action remake.
During a Thursday episode of Good Morning America, the Golden Globe-winning actress called playing Snow White “the honour of a lifetime.”
She expressed her excitement, saying, “I think every young person dreams about a phone call like that. This one is certainly extra special as a huge Disney fan.”
Her admiration for the role didn’t stop there as she continued, “To get to bring her to life in such a unique way and such a special way, it’s just a beautiful opportunity, and I’m very honoured.”
It is pertinent to note that her newfound enthusiasm comes after a wave of backlash following her 2022 interview where she referred to the original snow white as “weird” and “extremely dated.”
At that time, Zeglar pointed out the film’s problematic aspects, including the love story, which she described as “weird, weird” because the prince’s actions resembled stalking.
In the same interview with Extra, Zegler explained that they took a “different approach” with the plot so that it was “really not about the love story at all.”
