Prince Harry and Meghan Markle must maintain their partnership with Netflix, according to royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams.
The couple signed a five-year, £80million deal with the streaming platform in 2020, which is set to expire later this year.
After achieving success with their debut series, Harry & Meghan, their subsequent projects failed to attract similar viewership, sparking speculation about their future with Netflix.
Fitzwilliams emphasized to GB News about the importance of the couple keeping Netflix on board, saying, “They have to get Netflix and have to keep them on board.”
He suggested that the pair will likely secure a follow-on deal, citing the head of content at Netflix’s appreciation for their efforts.
The expert stated, “I think they will get something from Netflix in the future… that seems to be the sign because the head of content at Netflix appeared to be appreciating their efforts in statements.”
However, he doubts the new deal will be as lucrative as the original £80million contract. “I would be amazed if it was anything like what they planned when they first signed the £80million,” Fitzwilliams said. “Whatever contract comes up, it appears there’s going to be some sort of continuation, but it might be peanuts compared to the £80m.”
